CCNB Names New Conway Advisory Board Members

Conway, South Carolina, February 21, 2024 – CCNB, Coastal Carolina National Bank, announces two new members, Rick Maxey, Ph. D., and Blakely Roof, have joined the Bank’s Conway Advisory Board. CCNB established Conway’s Advisory Board in 2016 so the Bank could find unique ways to support Conway’s growing community. Maxey and Roof join a cross-section of ten other area business leaders who meet quarterly with key bank representatives and provide local market insights and perspective into Conway’s ever-changing and thriving economic landscape.

“We are extremely fortunate to have two such distinguished members of the community join our advisory board in Conway,” says Robert Hucks, CCNB’s Executive Vice President and Chief Banking Officer. “Our Bank and its customers will certainly benefit from their expertise and insight,” says Hucks.

Blakely Roof has been the President and CEO of United Way of Horry County since July 2019. She relocated to Myrtle Beach from Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2006 and has worked in the nonprofit field for nearly two decades. Roof’s first position was with the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, where she worked as the Membership & Communities Program Manager and Chamber Liaison for gsSCENE for Young Professionals. She also worked as Director of Administration for Habitat for Humanity of Horry County. Roof is a graduate of Clemson University and serves on Conway’s Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Nonprofit Council for the Myrtle Beach area Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Community Engagement Committee for Tidelands Health.

Dr. Rick Maxey has served as superintendent for Horry County Schools since 2015 and has served the district for over 34 years. Before he began working as a district-level administrator, Maxey was the principal of Conway High School for five years (2000-2005) and Carolina Forest High School for two years (1998-2000). He also served as assistant principal and technology coordinator at Loris High School after six years of teaching English there (1989). Before beginning his career in secondary education, Dr. Maxey was an English Instructor at Presbyterian College and Clemson University. He earned master’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in English from Clemson University. Last spring, Maxey was named 2024 Superintendent of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
